Keeping It Cool (and Competitive) at the Local Icerink

October 24, 2013 by trentcu

As the recent shift of the weather in the Morgantown area suggests, the time has arrived when one must somewhat alter the nature of his recreational activities in terms of what will be permitted by the outdoor elements. Accommodating that change is BOPARC’s ice arena, which provides a solid recreational platform during the cold winter months.

Those who prefer a competitive aspect to their recreation can also find that at the arena. BOPARC organizes an adult hockey league each fall that provides a unique competitive opportunity. Though entrance into the league is quite expensive, running at $160, it is worth every penny according to Graem Snyder, a Preston Country resident who participated in the league in 2010 and 2011.

“It’s a lot of fun,” he added, “but you have to be a good skater and tough because the guys there play to win.”

Good informational article about the ice rink here in Morgantown. The video and the map add a nice touch that gives readers a better idea of what features the rink has and where it is. These are key factors in making the article more interesting and adds a new element to it. By also adding a quote from a local resident, it shows that this rink is popular among local hockey teams as well as the club team here.

  2. I liked this post because it’s something I totally wouldn’t think about for Morgantown activities. I thought including the map was a great touch to give people a better idea of where it’s located relative to where they live in Morgantown. I also thought the post didn’t quite seem finished. The interview was a good idea, but I think it should have either been extended more or taken away completely. The post as a whole seemed more “advertising” than a unique angle to introduce the content. All things that can be easily changed though.
